They reflect the atmosphere of the factory and the
omnipresent world of gemstones of Idar Oberstein in their work developed
during their residency. The residency should take at least 4 and at the
most 12 weeks.
The Artists in Residence obtain:

a free appartement |

a studio place in the Bengel factory. The historical
machinery (rollers, presses etc..) can be used. |

In addition the workshops of the university can also
be used |
|
a monthly scholarship at a value of 500 euro. |
In Idar-Oberstein, being the European gemstone center,
minerals and gem stones can be obtained very easily and quickly. Precious
metal suppliers, tool suppliers and other relevant specialist shops are
present in the region. Contact to jewel-processing companies can be
initiated at any time.
It is expected that the Artists in Residence:

will leave a piece of jewelery for the collection of
the city of Idar-Oberstein |

are available for a public lecture/discussion meeting
as well as for a Workshop in the university |
|
will have a presentation of a small body of work
during their residency |
